Meet Preview
IT’S REGIONALS KIDS! I’m definitely not writing this at the last minute.
First for women is probably Anna Staats (Sr.) who will probably run fast and place for Nationals so that’s cool. Next up is Pam Koga (Sr.) who is a real wild card in every aspect of life except being fast. Following is Naomi Corns (Jr.) who’s carb loading right now as I write this so that’ll be a good race. Running right beside her will probably be Julia Corns (Jr.) who is the one with the watch in case anyone didn’t know. Debuting her last cross country season is Bella Facchine (Sr.) who did a marathon and half marathon before this race so this should be a walk in the park. Then there’s Kate Miller (Sr.) who can’t really walk but she’s going to try and run so we’ll see how that goes. Finishing up is Katelyn Gregory (Sr.) who doesn’t have bagels this weekend so hopefully she’ll find motivation to finish. Probably from all the training she’s been doing. Will this team qualify for Nationals? Find out tomorrow.
On the men’s side leading off we have Red Kidane (Fr.) back in the saddle ready to take back his spot as top dawg. Although not far behind him, runners Isaac Montgomery (Jr.) and Josh Sanchez (Fr.) who will also probably run fast and do well so that’s cool. Following probably isn’t Brian Hung (Jr.) because his knee will explode at mile 2 (maybe you should have come to the pasta party). Dawit Tegegn is out of shape but will still run faster than Alex. Alex Hulburt (Sr.) who will expel all his energy on the chant and run angry in the race (dummy). Zach Starr (Fr.) will run the absolute greatest race of his life. Calling it now. Ryan Kane (Jr.) is only running so he doesn’t have to pay back $25. After carbo loading and leaving early, we hope Michael Wellen (Sr.) will run the race as quick as he left the pasta party. Lastly, there is no call for rain so expect Christopher Blaisdell (Jr.) to run in this race. Have fun tomorrow, don’t die.

The Race
Meet Recap
The UMBC Running Club went to Frederick to compete in Regionals. It was nice weather and I think everyone had a pretty good race. I don't have the results up because they make me sad to look at (spoiler: we didn't qualify) so I'll just do this from memory.
I think Anna Staats (Sr.) was like 23 something and she individually qualified for Nationals even though she's not going (sell your spot and donate the money to the club). Not too far behind was Pam Koga (Sr.) who let her inner demons out and friggin' just flew through this race, like you should have seen her, oh my goodness. Her time was in the 24s(right?). Naomi Corns (Jr.) and Julia Corns (Jr.) have the exact same stride and look so in the spirit of halloween they decided to run together again in perfect unison, mimicking the twins from The Shining and then broke 27. Bella Facchine (Sr.) brought her A game along with a lot of drugs and vitamins to the meet and got mid 28s. This top 5 had an amazing race and their average time was better than this team has gotten at Regionals and they should all be very proud of themselves and ready to absolutely annihilate in the class races at Nationals. Who should be even more proud is Katelyn Gregory (Sr.) who ran the race twice, once as herself and once as Kate Miller (Sr.). That's definitely what happened, no need to check any race footage.
Leading off for the men was Red Kidane (Fr.) who should maybe slow down a bit because it's hard to get pictures when you're going so fast and I can't get to the other side of the course in time. And stop being in the middle of the pack because then it's really hard to take pictures. Anyway he broke 30. So did Isaac Montgomery (Jr.) according to his Instagram post. Josh did too. Harry came in next and you knew he was going to be in this race because he was definitely mentioned in the preview. Then there was Brian, Alex, and Zach but I don't really remember which order they came in. We have a picture of Brian's leg about to tear on his last sprint lol rip. I think Alex got somewhere between 33-35 minutes or something and then was cranky for the rest of the day. Then I kind of remember Zach saying he had a good race so we'll just say my prediction was correct. Sam came in next, pretending to be Dawit. And then Ryan. And then Michael. Ok done.
